2019 California 3-Star QB J.P. Andrade Commits to Ohio State
Ohio State added some much-needed depth to its quarterback room when La Verna (Calif.) Bonita three-star quarterback J.P. Andrade committed to the Buckeyes on Friday evening.

The 6-3, 205-pound Andrade is considered the 57th-best pro-style quarterback and No. 1,729 prospect overall in the class of 2019. He committed to Ohio State over scholarship offers from Fordham, Morehead State and South Alabama, as well as a preferred walk-on offer from Florida.
Andrade opted not to sign with a school during the Early Signing Period or National Signing Day for various reasons. He then visited Columbus twice this spring, including for the spring game on April 13, in hopes of landing an offer from the Buckeyes.
A three-year starter at Bonita, Andrade — who will join Ohio State as a preferred walk-on — rewrote school passing records by throwing for 9,423 yards and 83 touchdowns. His addition provides the Buckeyes with depth behind sophomore starter Justin Fields, redshirt senior backup Chris Chugunov and sophomore walk-on Danny Vanatsky, but does not impact the staff’s pursuit of a graduate transfer to replace the recently departed Matthew Baldwin.
