2021 Washington Five-Star Wide Receiver Emeka Egbuka Sets Commitment Date
Steilacoom, Wash., five-star wide receiver Emeka Egbuka announced on Tuesday evening he’ll make his college decision on Dec. 11 at 8 p.m. ET.
The 6-1, 190-pound Egbuka — who is considered the top-rated wide receiver and No. 9 prospect overall in the class of 2021 — will choose among Ohio State, Oklahoma and Washington.
Egbuka has been to Columbus since the Buckeyes extended a scholarship offer in January 2019, but not since the win over Wisconsin that fall. Still, he talks regularly with head coach Ryan Day, wide receivers coach Brian Hartline and offensive quality control coach Keenan Bailey, which is why Ohio State has been considered the odds-on favorite for much of his recruitment.
Egbuka finally made his first trip to Oklahoma last weekend, meanwhile, as he and his father attended the Sooners’ win over Baylor and spent time five-star quarterback commit Caleb Williams. He wasn’t able to meet with coaches or see the facilities due to the ongoing recruiting dead period, however.
Last but not least, Washington has been a mainstay in Egbuka’s recruitment thanks to proximity. He’s been to campus a number of times, but few prognosticators actually expect him to pick the Huskies.
In fact, Ohio State holds more than 94 percent of the 247Sports crystal ball predictions, whereas Oklahoma has less than six. Washington, on the other hand, doesn’t have a single prediction.
