The Ohio State men’s basketball program landed a commitment on Thanksgiving from Alpharetta (Ga.) Milton four-star point guard Bruce Thornton.
Although he’s never been to campus, the 6-2 and 195-pound Thornton — who is considered the seventh-best point guard and No. 30 prospect overall in the class of 2022 — committed to the Buckeyes over finalists Georgia, Indiana and Purdue.
Thornton is tied with former point guard D.J. Carton and 2021 Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary four-star shooting guard Malaki Branham as the highest-rated commit if the Chris Holtmann era. He now joins Youngstown (N.Y.) Lewiston Porter Senior four-star shooting guard Roddy Gayle and Cincinnati Princeton three-star shooting guard Bowen Hardman in the Buckeyes’ 2022 recruiting class.
