2025 NFL Draft: Ty Hamilton Selected No. 148 Overall By The Los Angeles Rams

Former Ohio State defensive tackle Ty Hamilton was selected by the Los Angeles Rams with the No. 148 overall pick in the fifth round of the NFL draft on Saturday.

Hamilton, a former three-star prospect out of Pickerington, Ohio, didn’t always seem to be a candidate for the NFL Draft, as he only went for 27 total tackles in his first three seasons at Ohio State.

It wasn’t until his redshirt junior season in 2023 that Hamilton broke out to receive substantial playing time. While splitting time with defensive tackle Michael Hall Jr., Hamilton recorded 38 tackles, including five for loss and two sacks.

Hamilton was finally granted the opportunity to be a full-time starter alongside All-Big Ten defensive tackle Tyleik Williams, after Hall declared for the NFL draft.

The Pickerington, Ohio, native took full advantage of the opportunity and recorded 51 tackles, including 6 for loss and a career-high 3.5 sacks while playing in all 16 games in 2024.

Hamilton now joins his brother DaVon in the NFL. Like Ty, DaVon wasn’t a highly-touted recruit out of high school but developed into a high-level contributor for the Buckeyes from 2015-19 before being selected in the third round of the 2020 NFL draft. DaVon Hamilton is still with the Jaguars.

Hamilton will begin his NFL career on a talanted Rams defensive line that includes edge rusher Braden Fiske and tackles Poona Ford and Kobie Turner.

Ty Hamilton is the 11th player from Ohio State to be selected in the 2025 NFL draft.
