24 Buckeyes Set To Compete In 2024 Paris Olympics

Ohio State athletics will be well represented on sport’s grandest stage this summer, as 24 current, former and incoming student-athletes are set to compete at the 2024 Paris Olympics, which will officially kick off this weekend following Friday afternoon’s opening ceremony held on France’s Seine.

The contingent of 24 Buckeyes competing this summer, which will represent 10 countries and nine sports, is the second-most Ohio State Olympians at a single Olympic Games, trailing only the 26 who competed at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

The Canadian Olympic Team has the most Ohio State representatives with eight, a list that includes current student-athletes Alex Axon and Tristan Jankovics of the men’s swimming and diving program. The United States has seven Buckeyes on their team, a group that is headlined by former four-time All-American wrestler Kyle Snyder, who is competing in his third straight Olympic games and already has a gold medal won at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games.

Axon and Jankovics are two of seven current Buckeyes who will compete in Paris this summer. The current Ohio State aquatic rosters are well represented this summer, with Axon and Jankovics’ teammate, Tomas Navikonis, set to swim for Lithuania, while diver Lena Hentschel will represent Germany and artistic swimmer Ruby Remati will represent the United States. Pistol student-athlete Ada Korkhin will also compete for Team USA, while Leah Betrand will compete for Trinidad & Tobago in track and field.

The aforementioned Snyder is one of seven former Buckeyes who will be returning to the Olympics for at least their second games. This year’s games mark the second Olympics for swimmers Henry Leverett and Hunter Armstrong, who will both represent Team USA in the pool, while it is the third Olympics for rower Aina Cid of Spain, fencer Eleanor Harvey of Canada, soccer player Nichelle Prince of Canada, rower Elodie Ravera-Scarramozzino of France and Snyder of Team USA.

The 2024 Olympic Games will be held Friday-Aug. 11 in Paris, a 17-day window that will have 10,500 athletes competing across 32 sports. A full schedule of the 2024 Paris Olympics can be accessed here, with a full list of the Buckeye Olympians listed below.
