Ohio State named the recipients of the 2025 Iron Buckeyes after Tuesday’s spring practice, with strength coach Mickey Marotti giving the honor to junior offensive lineman Austin Siereveld, junior linebacker Sonny Styles and sophomore wide receiver Jeremiah Smith.
In a video released on the team’s Twitter account, Marotti described to the team that the Iron Buckeye is “given to the student-athlete who best exemplifies unquestionable physical training dedication, determination, discipline, toughness and leadership” before revealing the winners of the honor, which he said were voted on by team leaders and strength coaches, among others.
Smith earns the honor for the second time in as many seasons with Ohio State. Last year, he was named an Iron Buckeye for his training dedication during post-spring workouts, making him the first-ever freshman to win the honor in program history.
Styles is also an Iron Buckeye for the second consecutive season. He earned the distinction alongside Smith last summer before turning in a strong season in his first year starting at Will linebacker, where he ranked second on the team in tackles with 100.
This marks Siereveld’s first Iron Buckeye distinction in his three years with the program. The New Palestine, Ind., native has earned first-team reps at left tackle in the first two spring practices open to the media, and is expected to take on a larger role on Tyler Bowen’s offensive line this season after being in and out of the starting lineup last season.
