Ohio State kicker Austin Snyder was the latest Buckeye to become an “official” member of the team on Wednesday when he had his black stripe removed
The senior kicker got his first substantial playing time during the team’s 49-14 win over Marshall when starting kicker Jayden Fielding kicked three consecutive balls out of bounds on kickoffs, giving the Thundering Herd good field position at the 35-yard line.
In place of Fielding, Snyder kept the ball in bounds on his three kickoffs and made the team’s last two extra points.
Snyder came to the Buckeyes just before the 2023 season from the University of Findlay, where he made 31 of 40 career field goals in 29 games between 2020-22.
In 2022, Snyder set a Great Midwest Athletic Conference and Findlay record with 15 field goals made in 2022.
Snyder was a three-time all-GMAC team inclusion, making the first team all-GMAC as a junior.
The Groveport, Ohio, native could see plenty of playing time going forward as a kickoff specialist and could even see time trying to make extra points and field goals for the Buckeyes.
