Availability Report: Devin Brown, Steele Chambers Among 12 Buckeyes Out For Spring Game
When Ohio State takes the field for the annual Spring Game, the Buckeyes’ 89-man roster will be without 12 players, according to a roster released by the team.
The coaching staff had already announced prior to spring ball that defensive end Mitchell Melton, linebacker Tommy Eichenberg, running backs TreVeyon Henderson and Evan Pryor, safety Kourt Williams and wide receivers Emeka Egbuka and Julian Fleming would be out for camp, and they remain on the list of Buckeyes unavailable for Saturday’s scrimmage at Ohio Stadium.
Ohio State will also be without offensive lineman Avery Henry and running back TC Caffey as well as three who suffered injuries during spring practice, including linebacker Steele Chambers, quarterback Devin Brown and wide receiver Xavier Johnson, though none of their injuries are expected to be long term.
Brown’s absence from the Spring Game is due to surgery that the quarterback had done Wednesday on a finger on his throwing hand, and Ohio State head coach Ryan Day said it should only keep Brown out for a few weeks before he is back in the swing of things.
Offensive lineman Jakob James was initially expected out for the spring, but he is listed as available. Also available will be safety Ja’Had Carter, who was injured during Ohio State’s Student Appreciation Day on April 1 but will be back for the Buckeyes.
Ohio State’s Spring Game will kick off at 12:05 p.m. on Saturday from Ohio Stadium, with the scrimmage to be broadcast on Big Ten Network and on the Ohio State Sports Radio Network.
