Baseball: Ohio State Makes Big Ten Tournament

After the Ohio State baseball team beat Rutgers two out of three times over the weekend, the Buckeyes have officially made the Big Ten Tournament after missing out on it the year before. It’s the first time since 2019 that they will compete for a conference title.

It is just head coach Bill Mosiello’s second year with the club, and he has already been able to get the Buckeyes back into the top half of the conference, finishing the regular season in. seventh place with a 12-12 Big Ten record.

Their record was a major improvement over last season in which they had a 9-15 record in the conference despite going 31-25 overall. That was boosted by a nine-game winning streak to finish the 2023 season, four of which came against conference opponents.

The tournament will be held in Omaha, Neb., at Charles Schwab Field from May 21-26 and Ohio State will start the double elimination tournament against No. 2 Nebraska, a team that beat them two out of three times when they went on the road earlier in the season.

The winner of the tournament will, as always, earn an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. Ohio State will likely need to win the tournament to make a regional.
