Big Ten Announces 2024-25 Women’s Basketball Conference Opponents
The Big Ten revealed on Tuesday each team’s conference opponents for the 2024-25 season, which features an 18-game conference slate for all 18 Big Ten programs.
With the addition of Oregon, Washington, UCLA and USC to the conference, each team play just one opponent twice, with the rest of the teams facing off against one another once.
Ohio State’s lone team it plays twice this season is Maryland. The Buckeyes took each of their two regular season games against the Terrapins this past season on Jan. 17 and Feb. 25, but were upset by head coach Brenda Frese’s program 86-61 in the first round of the 2024 Big Ten Tournament.
As for the single-game opponents, Ohio State will play at home against Illinois, Iowa, Michigan State, Minnesota, Northwestern, Oregon, Purdue and Washington, while it will play on the road against Indiana, Michigan, Nebraska, Penn State, Rutgers, UCLA, USC and Wisconsin.
The Buckeyes own an 8-5 combined record against the four incoming Big Ten programs, with the most recent matchup coming against the Bruins this past December, a 77-71 loss for the Buckeyes at Value City Arena. Ohio State also played USC in last year’s season opener on Nov. 6, which saw then-freshman Trojans sensation Juju Watkins score 32 points in her collegiate debut to lead USC to an 83-74 win in Las Vegas.
The Buckeyes last played Oregon in the fall of 2022, an 84-67 win for the Buckeyes, and last matched up against Washington in the fall of 2018, a 69-59 win for the Huskies.
According to a press release, Ohio State’s nonconference schedule will be announced later this summer, while dates and tip-off times for the conference games will be announced in September.
