Big Ten Announces 293 Buckeyes As Academic All-Big Ten Honorees In Spring 2022
Ohio State student-athletes manage many different lifestyles during their four years (or more) in Columbus, including taking care of business in the classroom.
This spring, 293 Buckeyes were named to the Academic All-Big Ten team. A record 552 Ohio State student-athletes were named to the conference’s academic teams in the 2021-22 school year. There were student-athletes who earned the distinction in the fall and 119 in the winter.
The list of spring honorees includes individuals who play baseball, softball, rowing, golf, tennis and track and field. A men’s at-large list was also compiled with sports such as fencing, pistol, rifle, rowing and volleyball. In contrast, a women’s at-large list had beach volleyball, bowling, fencing, ice hockey, lightweight rowing, pistol, synchronized swimming and water polo.
Ohio State student-athletes qualified for the Academic All-Big Ten team by meeting several requirements. The student must be on a varsity team (verified by an official roster), have been enrolled full-time at an institution for 12 months and carry a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher.
