Ohio State offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach Brian Hartline spoke to the media on Tuesday for the first time since being hospitalized in April after a side-by-side accident.
According to a report released by the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office, police were dispatched to Hartline’s home near Powell, Ohio, on the morning of April 16. He was the driver of the side-by-side involved in the crash that rolled over, and the report said he admitted to drinking prior to the accident.
Hartline was hospitalized following the accident after suffering minor injuries but was released from the hospital the next day, and said he’s feeling good more than a month after the accident.
“There’s nothing I can really say,” Hartline said Tuesday. “All I would say is that in hindsight, I probably would’ve rather went to bed than rode in a side-by-side.”
Hartline has not been charged for the incident, and added that any potential discipline from Ohio State will be handled in-house. Promoted to Ohio State’s offensive coordinator role in January, Hartline said he will use the incident as a learning opportunity moving forward.
“Everything provides a learning opportunity,” he said, “and I would say it was a learning opportunity.”
