C.J. Stroud Earns B1G Sweep

Ohio State redshirt freshman quarterback C.J. Stroud, who threw for 3,862 yards, completed 70.9 percent of his passes and tossed 38 touchdowns, has swept the Big Ten offensive awards in all spots that he was eligible to claim, winning the league’s Offensive Player of the Year, Quarterback of the Year and Freshman of the Year honors.

Stroud is the fourth straight winner of the Offensive Player of the Year title for the Buckeyes, joining Justin Fields (twice) and Dwayne Haskins in 2018. He’s sixth straight Buckeye winner for the Quarterback of the year crown, joining Fields, Haskins and J.T. Barrett, who won it in 2016 and 2017. He snaps something of a dry spell for the freshman honors though, winning it for Ohio State for the first time since 2016 when halfback Mike Weber claimed it.

After dominating the conference’s weekly awards all season, Stroud was essentially unchallenged in the race for quarterback and freshman honors but managed to beat out Michigan State’s halfback Kenneth Walker III for the title of best offense player in the league, thanks in part to his phenomenal showing in the matchup between the two on Nov. 20.
