After leading the Buckeyes to a 13-5 finish in Big Ten play, Freshman point guard Jaloni Cambridge and junior forward Cotie McMahon were each named to the All-Big Ten first-team on Tuesday. Although Cambridge and McMahon were the only players to make the first or second-team All-Big Ten, senior guard Taylor Thierry made the Big Ten All-Defensive team and was an All-Big Ten honorable mention, after leading the Buckeyes with 2.4 steals per game in the regular season. Graduate guard Madison Greene meanwhile was Ohio State’s sportsmanship honoree.
Cambridge, who averaged 16 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.9 assists in her first year with the Buckeyes, was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Year by the media and was named the Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Year with Michigan guard Olivia Olson by the Coaches. Cambridge, who made the media’s All-Big Ten second team was also an All-Big Ten freshman selection by both the coaches and the media.
McMahon, who was the last Buckeye to win the Big Ten Freshman of the Year in 2023, made the All-Big Ten first team for the second consecutive year after averaging a team-high 16.9 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists.
McMahon and Cambridge were joined on the All-Big Ten first team by 10 others, who were selected by the coaches, media or both, including Big Ten Player of the Year, USC guard JuJu Watkins and unanimous All-Big Ten first-team selection, UCLA center Lauren Betts.
