For the first time in 27 years, color commentator Jim Lachey will not be on the radio broadcast for Ohio State’s game against Michigan on Saturday.
Lachey, an All-American offensive tackle for Ohio State from 1981-1984, will be attending his son, and Iowa tight end Luke Lachey’s senior day for the Iowa vs. Nebraska game on Friday night at 7:30 p.m.
“Obviously my heart pulls me both directions, but for the good of my family, I have to go see Luke and be a parent for this weekend,” Lachey said following Ohio State’s 38-15 win over Indiana.
Luke Lachey, a former All-Big Ten Honorable Mention in 2022, is thought to have an NFL career ahead of him after graduation. Luke Lachey will hope to have the type of successful NFL career that his father had, who was named an All-Pro in three seasons, and was a Super Bowl champion in Washington for the 1991-92 season.
Jim Lachey who has been the Buckeyes’ color commentator on the Buckeyes’ radio broadcast since the start of the 1997 season will be replaced by former Ohio State linebacker from 2002-05 Bobby Carpenter.
Carpenter knows the current iteration of the Buckeyes well as a co-host of the ‘Morning Juice’ on 97.1 The Fan.
