Following Ohio State’s 12th practice of fall camp on Wednesday, two more Buckeyes became “official” members of the team by losing their black stripes. First up was walk-on wide receiver David Adolph, a native of Dublin, Ohio, who lost his black stripe after joining the team last summer.
The next black stripe announcement was for cornerback Lorenzo Styles Jr., who transferred to Ohio State this offseason and is undergoing his first set of practices as a cornerback after switching over from wide receiver, which he played at Notre Dame.
Though he is only beginning his time at cornerback, Styles – who had his black stripe removed by his younger brother, Sonny Styles – has made a strong impression in limited action in the secondary.
โHeโs doing better,โ cornerback Denzel Burke said. โHeโs getting a lot better. I know he just transitioned from receiver. Heโs learning a lot from the group and heโs making us proud.โ
Styles joins fellow transfers Victor Cutler Jr., Josh Simmons and Tywone Malone in losing their black stripes, and freshmen to have lost their black stripes since fall camp began includes offensive lineman Luke Montgomery, wide receiver Bryson Rodgers and cornerback Jermaine Mathews Jr.
