COVID-19 Issues Within Ohio State Threaten To Delay National Title Game, Per Report

With the national championship game between Alabama and Ohio State just six days away, there are concerns regarding COVID-19 tests that threaten to delay the game, according to a report from John Talty and Matt Zenitz from AL.com.

The report states that “there are concerns related to Ohio State’s player availability for the game” and that, according to their sources, “Ohio State has informed key parties involved it could be without a position group due to COVID-19 testing and related protocols.”

As of right now, the game is still scheduled for Jan. 11, and Austin Ward of Lettermen Row reported that Ohio State has continued to practice each of the last two days.

Kyle Rowland of the Toledo Blade also reported a message he received from athletic director Gene Smith which said “Game is still on. We continue to follow the same protocols as we have all season. Our goal is to play January 11th!”

The Buckeyes have had three games on their schedule canceled due to COVID-19, including one against Illinois that the program elected not to play in order to help stop the spread of the virus.
