Redshirt junior defensive tackle Hero Kanu has entered the transfer portal and will play out the remainder of his two years of eligibility elsewhere.
Kanu was part of the 2022 recruiting class and came in as a four-star prospect out of Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif., and in this season he was stuck behind Tyleik Williams and Ty Hamilton on the depth chart.
As the year went on, freshman Eddrick Houston made the switch from the edge to the interior of the defensive line and passed Kanu for more playing time.
Now that Hamilton and Williams won’t be back in Columbus next season, there will be two openings at the position, but there is no shortage of options to win the starting job for the national champion Buckeyes in the 2025 season.
Kanu finishes his Buckeye career with 14 tackles and one sack.
