Newberry, Fla., four-star defensive lineman Jarquez Carter signed with Ohio State on Wednesday, adding another defensive piece to Ohio State’s 2025 recruiting class.

How He Did In High School: Carter poured in 221 tackles and 35 sacks across his final three seasons at Newberry, helping lead the Fighting Panthers to a regional final spot in Florida’s state high school playoffs in 2023.
Where He Fits For 2025: Carter brings with him a Michael Hall Jr. energy to Columbus, a smaller interior defensive lineman that can create havoc in the pocket with his pass rushing skills. The Buckeyes could potentially bring back starters Tyleik Williams and Ty Hamilton on the interior while Eddrick Houston and Kayden McDonald could also see some time on the inside.
The four-star could see some time rotating in as a third-down package interior lineman before seeing a larger role in 2026.
