Early Signing Period: Three-Star Defensive Lineman Eric Mensah Signs With Ohio State
Get to know Stafford (Va.) Mountain View three-star defensive lineman Eric Mensah, who signed with the Buckeyes on Wednesday.
Height, Weight: 6-3, 290
247Sports Composite Ranking: He is rated as the No. 825 overall prospect, 93rd-ranked defensive lineman and 15th-ranked recruit out of Virginia.
Commitment Date: Mensah committed to Ohio State on Sept. 15.
Other Offers: Boston College, Buffalo, Duke, Maryland, Old Dominion, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, West Virginia.
How He Did In High School: Mensah was named Virginia High School League first-team all-state following his senior season, and was also named Commonwealth District Defensive Player of the Year and earned first-team All-Region 6B honors.
Where He Fits For 2024: Mensah is the lowest-ranked defensive line recruit in the class and, even as the only projected prospect at defensive tackle, faces a very steep hill to contribute next season. He could see the field late in some games, but with Ty Hamilton and Mike Hall Jr. both expected to return – and a decision still to come from Tyleik Williams – this will be a learning season for Mensah as he gets up to speed with the Buckeyes.
