Get to know Fort Myers (Fla.) Bishop Verot three-star safety Leroy Roker, who signed with the Buckeyes on Wednesday.
Height, Weight: 6-1, 170
247Sports Composite Ranking: He is rated as the No. 1,178 overall prospect, 118th-ranked safety and 155th-ranked recruit out of Florida.
Commitment Date: Roker committed to Ohio State on Oct. 11.
Other Offers: Iowa, Miami (Fla.) Old Dominion, South Dakota.
How He Did In High School: In 12 games in his senior season, Roker had 54 tackles, one for a loss, seven interceptions and seven passes defended. His team finished with an 11-2 record, losing in the playoffs 38-32 on Nov. 24.
Where He Fits For 2024: Despite being ranked low and not being recruited by many schools, Perry Eliano liked what he saw from Roker enough to be only one of five teams to extend him an offer. It’s possible he could rise up the ranks quickly once he gets to Columbus, but the position is currently a little crowded.
Lathan Ransom could return for another season at Ohio State. Sonny Styles, Malik Hartford and Ja’Had Carter will be back as well, and with multiple other backups returning it will be tough for Roker to crack the lineup at any point in 2024 beyond special teams.
