Fall camp doesn’t start for Ohio State until Thursday, but two of its top targets on the outside are already being recognized among the nation’s best.
On Monday, junior wide receivers Marvin Harrison Jr. and Emeka Egbuka both were added to the preseason watch list for the Maxwell Award, given annually to the best player in college football.
Harrison holds a reputation as perhaps the best receiver in college football entering 2023, finishing as a finalist for the Biletnikoff Award (nation’s best pass catcher) in 2022. Harrison amassed 77 catches for 1,263 yards and 14 touchdowns. Egbuka wasn’t that far behind, picking up 1,151 yards on 74 receptions with 10 touchdowns and an additional two rushing scores.
If Harrison and Egbuka play up to their Maxwell-contending potential, Ohio State’s new quarterback should have a smooth transition into his starting role.
