Egbuka Semi-Finalist For Hornung Award

Ohio State sophomore wide receiver and return specialist Emeka Egbuka has been named a semi-finalist for the Paul Hornung Award, given annually to the most versatile player in all of college football.

Egbuka has emerged as one of third-year quarterback C.J. Stroud’s favorite targets this season, hauling in 49 receptions for 794 yards, both of which place him second on the team. Head coach Ryan Day has also used Egbuka as a change-of-pace on the ground, where he’s carried the ball eight times for 80 yards and two touchdowns off various wide receiver sweeps.

The Washington native has also served as the team’s primary punt returner all season, with nine returns for 77 yards marking an 8.6-yard per-return average. He’s also returned one kick for 25 yards.

Created by the Louisville Sports Commission with the help of Hornung himself, the Paul Hornung Award was created in 2010 to recognize and award versatile, high-level performers in the sport of college football. Hornung passed away in 2020.
