Emily Nothnagle and Bernard Melus were named the two captains of the Ohio State pistol team for the 2019-20 season.
Northragle is a junior from Hershey, Pa., who placed No. 13 in the sport pistol at the 2019 Collegiate Pistol National Championship. She is a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar, Academic All-Big Ten honoree and OSU Scholar-Athlete.
“I’m very excited to be team captain this year,” Northragle said. “We are training harder than ever, and I can’t wait to see how the team’s hard work pays off.
“I plan to support and motivate my teammates throughout the year so that we can accomplish our goals and have our best season yet.”
Melus is a junior who earned Second Team All-American distinction in free pistol and Honorable Mention All-American for standard pistol as a sophomore in 2018-19. The Lake Zurich, Ill., native traveled to Changwon, Korea, to compete in the ISSF World Championships.
“Being a captain is a great opportunity to influence my team because of the unique relationships we possess with the other athletes,” Melus said. “I will strive to be a valuable resource to my teammates based on experiences I have had as a student-athlete.”
