Ohio State received a major addition to its 2027 class Monday, landing its second five-star defensive line commitment in the class with Chatsworth (Calif.) Sierra Canyon five-star defensive lineman Marcus Fakatou.

Fakatou chose the Buckeyes over Texas and Georgia.

The 6-6, 275-pound defensive lineman is the No. 26 overall prospect, the No. 2 defensive lineman and No. 3 player from the state of California in the class of 2027, according to 247Sports Composite rankings.

Fakatou most recently turned in a dominant junior campaign at Orange Lutheran High School, where he totaled 69 tackles, 17 TFLs and seven sacks. He has transferred to Sierra Canyon ahead of his senior season.

He joins Roswell (Ga.) Blessed Trinity Catholic defensive end DJ Jacobs and Sunbury (Ohio) Big Walnut wide receiver Jamier Brown as the the third five-star in the Ohio State’s 2027 class.

If both commitments hold, Jacobs and Fakatou would give Ohio State its first pair of five-star defensive line signees in a single class since 2021, when defensive line coach Larry Johnson landed Jack Sawyer and Jaylahn Tuimoloau.

Fakatou is the 18th overall commitment in Ohio State’s 2027 class and its third commitment over the last four days. The Buckeyes saw commitments from Jackson (Miss.) Academy four-star offensive tackle Caden Moss on Friday and Oviedo, Fla., three-star wide receiver Jordan Donahoo on Sunday.
