Ohio State women’s basketball’s 2024 recruiting class is now complete, as Montverde (Fla.) Academy five-star point guard Jaloni Cambridge (5-7) signed with the Buckeyes on Wednesday.
Cambridge – who is from Tennessee but transfered to Montverde Academy ahead of her senior season, where she helped lead her team to a state championship – is the second-ranked prospect in 2024, accrding to ESPN, as well as the top-ranked point guard in the class.
As the second overall prospect, she becomes the highest-rated recruit to ever sign with Ohio State. Her high ranking is no surprise, though, considering her senior season in which she was named Gatorade Florida Player of the Year (as well as finalist for Gatorade Player of the Year) and MaxPreps Player of the Year after averaging 20.7 points, 8.7 assists and 6.7 rebounds.
She is the younger sister of current Ohio State guard Kennedy Cambridge. Jaloni Cambridge, meanwhile, figures to factor in immediately at guard for the Buckeyes with both Jacy Sheldon and Celeste Taylor departing the program and being taken on Monday in thw WNBA Draft.
Cambridge joins a highly touted class that also includes Cincinnati Purcell Marian wing Seini Hicks (5-11), Concord (N.C.) Jay M. Robinson forward Ella Hobbs (6-4), Espoo, Finland, center Elsa Lemmilä (6-6) and Buford, Ga., guard Ava Watson (5-8).
