Ohio State made another transfer addition to its 2024-25 team on Monday when former Kentucky forward Ajae Petty announced her commitment to play for the Buckeyes next season.
Petty (6-3) was with the Wildcats for two seasons, averaging 10.1 points and 7.8 rebounds per game, after transferring from LSU where she didn’t see much playing time in her first two seasons.
She entered the starting lineup for the 2023-24 season and averaged 14.2 points and 10.6 rebounds per game, getting to the free throw line often where she shot just 49.5 percent, leading a Kentucky team that finished with a record of 12-20 on the season.
Her rebounding ability will prove useful in Columbus after a season in which the Buckeyes were consistently beat on the boards, averaging 33.5 per game compared to 35.9 for their opponents. Cotie McMahon led the team this year with 6.3 boards per game.
Petty projects to be a starter at the forward position for Ohio State next year and will provide a commanding presence around the rim on both sides of the ball.
She is now the second transfer addition for the Buckeyes after former Oregon point guard Chance Gray committed to Ohio State on Sunday.
