Former Ohio State defensive end Joey Bosa found a new NFL team on Tuesday, when he signed a one-year contract worth $12.6 million.
After three years at Ohio State from 2013-15, Bosa was drafted by the Los Angeles Chargers with the No. 3 overall pick. It was in Los Angeles that Bosa became one of the league’s most consistent pass rushers and received five Pro Bowl nods over nine years with the team.
Bosa, who has recorded 343 tackles and 72 sacks in the NFL, had his tenure with the Chargers come to an abrupt end when he was released on March 5.
With the move to Buffalo, Bosa will be reunited with his former teammate Curtis Samuel, who played for Ohio State from 2014-16, helping the team win the national championship in 2014.
During the Buckeyes’ national championship season, Bosa was at his best. In 15 games, Bosa had 55 total tackles, 13.5 sacks, and forced four fumbles and was named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year. For his career, Bosa registered 148 total tackles, 26 sacks and forced five fumbles and was a two-time All-American.
Bosa joins a Bills team that has won five straight AFC East titles and is led by 2024 NFL MVP Josh Allen at quarterback. Still, the Bills haven’t made the Super Bowl since 1993 and have never won the NFL’s ultimate prize.
