Two-time first-team All-Big Ten forward and Ohio State’s leading-scorer from 2024-25, Cotie McMahon has found her new school. Over two weeks after entering the transfer portal, McMahon committed to Ole Miss on Thursday.
In three seasons with the Buckeyes, McMahon averaged 15.3 points and 5.5 rebounds while starting all 97 games she appeared in.
The Centerville, Ohio native burst onto the scene as a freshman, scoring 15.5 points per game on a career-best 51.0 percent shooting, while being named the Big Ten Freshman of the Year and helping the Buckeyes make the Elite Eight for the first time in 30 years.
McMahon took more of a back seat as a sophomore but still averaged 14.4 points per game, while Ohio State won the Big Ten regular season title.
McMahon averaged a career-best 16.5 points per game in 2024-25 but showed signs of frustration down the stretch of the season.
After Ohio State’s season-ending loss to Tennessee in the second round of the NCAA tournament on March 23, McMahon let reporters know how she felt.
“I’m very frustrated, simple as that,” McMahon said.
She then took to Instagram the next day to air out her grievances, saying in a story “(I) want to be surrounded with people who have the same fight, same passion and love for the game just as much as I do.”
McMahon will now join an Ole Miss team coming off its second appearance in the Sweet 16 in the last three years. She has one year of eligibility remaining.
