Former Ohio State Guard Mike Conley Leaves NBA Bubble For Birth Of His Son

Former Ohio State and current Utah Jazz guard Mike Conley is leaving the NBA Bubble in Orlando, Fla. to return to his home in Columbus for the birth of his son, as first reported by ESPN’s Eric Woodyard.

Conley played in six of the eight games for the Jazz since the NBA restart and averaged 18.0 points and 5.0 assists in those contests while shooting 43.2 percent (35 of 81) from the field. Utah went 2-4 in games Conley played in and 1-1 without Conley in the lineup.

Woodyard also reported that Conley plans on returning to the Jazz to help the team in the playoffs, where they are currently matched up against the Denver Nuggets, and rank as the six seed in the Western Conference with a 44-28 record.

On the season, Conley has played in 47 games for the Jazz and has averaged 14.4 points and 4.4 assists per game on 40.9 percent shooting, including 37.5 percent from three.

This is Conley’s 13th season in the NBA after being selected fourth overall by the Memphis Grizzlies in the 2007 NBA Draft. In his lone season with the Buckeyes, Conley averaged 11.3 points and 6.1 assists per game while being a key piece of an Ohio State team that made the championship game of the NCAA Tournament.
