The Los Angeles Sparks announced Friday that it has signed former Ohio State guard Taylor Mikesell to a training camp contract.
Mikesell, who spent two years at Ohio State after two seasons at Maryland and a season at Oregon, was originally taken in the second round by the Indiana Fever in the 2023 WNBA Draft. But she did not make the Fever’s roster out of training camp, and later signed with the Atlanta Dream before being released.
During her time with the Dream, Mikesell appeared in six games, averaging 2.8 points and shooting 50.0 percent (5 of 10) from the field and 3 of 7 from deep. At Ohio State, Mikesell helped lead Ohio State to the program’s first Elite Eight appearance since 1993 last season, and entered the record books with the second-highest three-point percentage (44.2) in team history.
Training camp for the WNBA begins on April 28, with the preseason set to begin on May 5 ahead of the regular season beginning on May 14. Mikesell is one of two former Buckeyes currently on WNBA rosters along with Indiana Fever guard Kelsey Mitchell.
