Former Ohio State guard Taylor Thierry Selected In WNBA Draft By Atlanta Dream

Former All-Big Ten Ohio State guard Taylor Thierry is headed to the WNBA. The Cleveland native was selected with the 37th overall pick by the Atlanta Dream in the third round of the WNBA draft on Monday.

Thierry, a two-time All-Big Ten second-team guard, joins an Atlanta team that went 15-25 in the regular season in 2024 before losing to the New York Liberty in the first round of the playoffs.

A three-year starter at Ohio State, Thierry quickly made a name for herself on defense. While helping the Buckeyes make their first Elite Eight appearance in 30 years, Thierry averaged 2.1 steals per game on the way to being named to the All-Big Ten defensive team.

After two more impressive seasons defensively Thierry’s 234 career steals are the 10th-most in program history. Thierry was no slouch on the offensive end either, although she often didn’t take many shots she managed to average 9.7 points per game over four years at Ohio State.

In each of her last three years with the team, she averaged in double figures. Thierry’s most impressive attribute on the offensive end with the Buckeyes was her efficiency. The 6-1 guard finished her career shooting 59.7 percent from the field, the fifth-best mark in program history.
