Former Ohio State Offensive Tackle Isaiah Prince Opts Out Of 2020 NFL Season

The Cincinnati Bengals announced Friday that former Ohio State offensive tackle Isaiah Prince was placed on the Reserve/Opt-Out list, which is for players who decide not to play in the 2020 NFL season for whatever reason, but the main reason being for concerns regarding COVID-19.

Prince was selected in the sixth round by the Miami Dolphins in the 2019 NFL Draft, but was waived by Miami before being claimed by the Bengals back in December. In his rookie season, Prince played in four games and started in two for the Dolphins, but has not yet played in a game for Cincinnati.

Back at Ohio State, Prince started for three seasons for the Buckeyes from 2016-18, and earned a place on Third Team All-Big Ten in 2017. He was also an honorable mention for the All-Big Ten teams in 2018.

Players can decide to opt out up until Aug. 3, and they can receive a stipend of $150,000. If they qualify as a player opting out for medical reasons, they can receive $350,000. Prince’s decision to opt out cannot be reversed.
