Former Ohio State quarterback C.J. Stroud led the Houston Texans to a 45-14 win over the Cleveland Browns on Saturday, winning his first career playoff start in his rookie season with the Texans.
Stroud, who was taken by Houston with the No. 2 overall selection in last year’s draft, finishing 16-of-21 passing for 274 yards and three touchdowns in the rout of Cleveland, tying an NFL playoff record for single-game passing touchdowns by a rookie, and doing so in just one half of play.
Stroud also became the youngest quarterback in NFL history to win a playoff game, and became the first first-round rookie quarterback to win a playoff game since 2009.
The Texans will now await the results of the rest of wild card weekend to determine who they will play in the next round. The Miami Dolphins and Kansas City Chiefs play Saturday night, while the Buffalo Bills will play the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday.
