Multiple Big Ten records was not enough for J.T. Barrett to keep his position on an NFL team, with the Pittsburgh Steelers announcing Sunday that they were releasing the former Ohio State quarterback along with seven other players.

After finishing his Ohio State career with 9,434 passing yards, 3,263 rushing yards, 104 passing touchdowns and 43 rushing touchdowns, Barrett went undrafted in the 2018 NFL Draft, ultimately signing with the New Orleans Saints. He was waived by the Saints in August of last year, then signing with the Seattle Seahawks before ultimately being cut shortly after.
Following the brief stint in Seattle, Barrett rejoined the Saints as a member of the practice squad in September, but was released a month later, after which he joined the Steelers.
During his five years with the Buckeyes, Barrett was a three-time Big Ten Quarterback of the Year and won the Silver Football Award in his redshirt junior season back in 2016.
