Former Ohio State safety Cameron Martinez announced on Twitter that he would be transferring to Boston College.
Head coach at Boston College, Jeff Hafley, was the one who originally recruited Martinez at Ohio State but took the job with the Eagles before the safety signed, delaying Martinez’ decision who decided to remain at Ohio State.
Martinez will also join former Ohio State cornerback Ryan Turner who is also transferring to Boston College this offseason
Martinez has been at Ohio State for four years and in that time has appeared in 29 games, but only three of those were in 2023 since he mostly played at nickel safety where he was behind Sonny Styles, but he can play both safety and cornerback.
He had 23 tackles, one interception and five passes broken up in 2021 when he started two games, but couldn’t put together a strong season after showing some promise.
With Martinez committed to play somewhere in 2024, that leaves just wide receiver Julian Fleming, tight end Joe Royer, cornerback Jyaire Brown and kicker Parker Lewis as the only former Buckeyes who still need to find a new home for next season.
