After not hearing his name called during the 2025 NFL Draft, former Buckeye tight end Gee Scott Jr has his chance to make an NFL roster after signing with Mike Vrabel’s New England Patriots as an undrafted free agent. Scott becomes the second Buckeye to join New England during this draft cycle, joining running back TreVeyon Henderson, who was drafted to the franchise with the No. 38 overall pick in the second round on Friday.

Starting his career in Columbus as a wide receiver, Scott came to Ohio State as a four-star recruit and the No. 5 wide out in the class of 2020. Spending one season as a wide receiver, Scott converted to a tight end after the 2020 season and tallied 393 yards and four touchdowns at the position.

Scott’s best season came in 2024, picking up 27 receptions for 253 yards and two touchdowns while improving his run blocking in his final collegiate season.

The Seattle, Wash., native will now play his professional football over 3,000 miles away from his hometown after a successful collegiate career. New England’s tight end room currently consists of veterans Hunter Henry and Austin Hooper as well as youngsters Jaheim Bell, Jack Westover and Giovanni Ricci.
