Former Ohio State wide receiver Johnnie Dixon was named USFL Offensive Player of the Week on Monday after an impressive outing for the New Orleans Breakers, hauling in nine receptions for 136 yards and a pair of touchdowns in a 24-20 win over the Michigan Panthers on Sunday.
Dixon has the third-most receiving yards (395) and fourth-most receptions (29) for the Breakers this season, but he leads the team with four receiving touchdowns, just one shy of leading the USFL. The USFL began play in 2022, and Dixon was taken in the 14th round by the Breakers, leading the team last season with 37 receptions for 359 yards and four touchdowns, also earning Offensive Player of the Week honors in the third week of the season.
Dixon played five seasons at Ohio State from 2014-18, appearing in 40 games and hauling in 67 receptions for 1,146 yards and 16 touchdowns. He reached career highs in his final season with the Buckeyes, posting 42 receptions for 669 yards and eight touchdowns.
