Former OSU Defensive Tackle Hero Kanu Transferring To Texas

Only five days after entering the transfer portal, former Ohio State defensive tackle Hero Kanu has found a new home. The former four-star recruit out of Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif., committed to Texas on Wednesday, where he will have two years of eligibility remaining.

Kanu played in 15 of the Buckeyes’ 16 games in 2024, but he only received limited playing time behind starting defensive tackles Tyleik Williams and Ty Hamilton.

Kanu recorded 14 total tackles and a sack during his tenure with Ohio State, four of those tackles came last year in his redshirt sophomore season with the team.

Despite Kanu’s departure from the program and Hamilton and Williams headed to the draft, the Buckeyes will still have options in the middle of their defensive line including former five-star Eddrick Houston, Kayden McDonald and Tywone Malone Jr.
