Ohio State added another player from the transfer portal on Tuesday, signing former Rice offensive tackle Ethan Onianwa.
Onianwa was also interested in Florida State, Iowa, Oklahoma and Texas A&M, but decided to go with the Buckeyes for his one remaining season of eligibility.
He visited Columbus on Dec. 15 and is considered by 247Sports to be the No. 13 offensive tackle available in the portal. He was a three-star coming out of Cinco Ranch in Katy, Texas.
With both left tackle Josh Simmons and right tackle Josh Fryar leaving after this season, Onianwa will have a good chance to make the starting lineup next season. The Buckeyes have also hosted former Northwestern interior lineman Josh Thompson on a visit, and still could be looking to add more to the 2025 front five.
He is the fifth transfer already to commit to Ohio State, joining former Minnesota offensive tackle Phillip Daniels, former West Virginia running back CJ Donaldson Jr., former Idaho State defensive end Logan George and former Purdue tight end Max Klare.
