Former West Virginia running back CJ Donaldson Jr. has signed with Ohio State, becoming the Buckeyes second addition through the transfer portal this offseason.
Donaldson was a three-star tight end prospect coming out of Gulliver Prep in Miami, but he quickly made the switch to running back and has run for 1,690 yards and 23 touchdowns in three years with the Mountaineers, 1,532 of those yards and 22 touchdowns in the last two seasons.
Donaldson has just one year of eligibility remaining, but provides more depth to a room that could be losing two of the best runners in the country over the offseason.
Donaldson joins a running back room that will likely still have James Peoples and Sam Williams-Dixon in the backfield along with three new additions through the 2025 class in Bo Jackson, Anthony Rogers and Isaiah West. Quinshon Judkins still has the eligibility to return to the Buckeyes next season, but it would be no surprise to see the junior take his chances in the NFL draft this spring.
Peoples has looked good in the little time he has been able to get into the backfield this season, so it could be a split between him and Donaldson going into next year.
