Four-Star Athlete Cameron Martinez Says He Will Sign With Ohio State Next Week
After electing to hold off on signing during the Early Signing Period in December, four-star athlete Cameron Martinez is set to make it official next Wednesday.
I will be signing and honoring my commitment to be a Buckeye, a lifelong dream of mine!!! I couldn’t be more excited and thankful to Coach Day and the rest of the Coaching staff!!! #GoBucks

Martinez decided to wait on officially signing with Ohio State initially to wait and see who would replace co-defensive coordinator and secondary coach Jeff Hafley after he took the head coaching job at Boston College, as Martinez will be primarily playing at defensive back in college.
But after the hiring of Kerry Coombs as Ohio State’s defensive coordinator, Coombs immediately went to visit with Martinez, and the meeting went well enough for Martinez to feel confident in his vocal commitment.
Coombs and wide receivers coach Brian Hartline are still expected to visit with Martinez next week for good measure.

Martinez has had multiple visits from Ohio State’s staff since waiting to declare, including one from head coach Ryan Day and special teams coordinator Matt Barnes on Jan. 15.
The four-star athlete out of Muskegon, Mich. is the two-time high school player of the year in the state, and was recently bumped up from a three star for his efforts.
