Ohio State has added another big commitment on the defensive side of the ball, earning a verbal pledge on Thursday from Chandler (Ariz.) Basha four-star cornerback Miles Lockhart (5-10, 185).
Lockhart is the No. 365 overall prospect and No. 33 cornerback in 2024, and he held additional offers from Arizona, Colorado, Iowa, Iowa State, Northwestern, Oregon, Texas A&M and Wisconsin, among others. He took his official visit to Ohio State from June 23-25, making another commitment for the Buckeyes coming out of a strong month of official visit weekends.
While Lockhart did go through the recruiting process with other schools, Ohio State has been a clear favorite since he received his offer last June, as it was the only school that Lockhart took an official visit to. The official visit is one of several trips Lockhart has taken to Columbus during his recruitment.
A two-way player at Basha, Lockhart totaled 105 tackles (4.5 for loss) with six interceptions over the last two seasons while carrying the ball 67 times for 505 yards and eight touchdowns. He displays impressive skills in coverage, including his ability to track the ball and get a hand up to deflect passes, and his physicality is apparent in his tackling.
Lockhart is the second cornerback to commit to Ohio State’s class, joining Cleveland Glenville four-star Bryce West (5-11, 177). The Buckeyes are also hoping to add Springfield, Ohio, four-star cornerback Aaron Scott (6-0, 170), who is announcing his commitment on July 30.
