Ohio State got its 24th commitment of the 2025 class when Newberry, Fla., four-star defensive lineman Jarquez Carter (6-2, 284) pledged his services to the Buckeyes on Thursday.
247Sports composite rankings have him as the No. 394 overall player in the class, the 42nd best defensive lineman and the 55th best player in the state of Florida.
Carter chose the Buckeyes over Miami (Fla.), UCF and Penn State and joined five others in the 2025 class for Ohio State.
Already committed are Enterprise, Ala., four-star edge rusher Zion Grady (6-4, 235), Philadelphia Imhotep Institute four-star edge rusher Zahir Mathis and defensive linemen Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy four-star London Merritt (6-3, 250), Philadelphia St. Joseph’s Prep four-star Maxwell Roy (6-3, 285) and Matthews (N.C.) Weddington four-star Trajen Odom (6-4, 285).
Defensive lien coach Larry Johnson has been able to put together a great class for the Buckeyes after signing just three players at the position last year, and now will need to hold onto them until signing day.
