Ohio State secured another defensive line commitment on Monday from Philadelphia St. Joseph’s Prep four-star Maxwell Roy (6-3, 285), the 22nd commitment in the 2025 class and the third interior defensive lineman.
He joins Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy four-star London Merritt (6-3, 250) and Matthews (N.C.) Weddington four-star Trajen Odom on the interior, making it five total defensive line commits in the class so far for Larry Johnson.
Roy is currently the No. 229 prospect in the country, the No. 26 defensive lineman and the eighth-best player in the state of Pennsylvania according to 247Sports composite ranking.
He chose the Buckeyes over Michigan and Rutgers, the only other two schools he took an official visit to in June. He comes from the same high school as 2025 three-star running back Isaiah West (5-11, 208), Kyle McCord and Marvin Harrison Jr.
It’s still possible that the Buckeyes could add more on the defensive line this cycle with so many veteran players likely leaving for the NFL after the season. They are still targeting Auburn commit Opelika, Ala., four-star defensive lineman Malik Autry (6-6, 320), Indianapolis Warren Central four-star defensive end Damien Shanklin (6-4, 230) and Newberry, Fla., four-star defensive lineman Jarquez Carter (6-2, 284)
