Ohio State pulled off a successful recruiting flip on the first day of the Early Signing Period on Wednesday, earning a pledge from Montgomery (Ala.) Carver four-star running back Anthony Rogers (5-8, 190), a former Alabama commit.
Rogers, the nation’s 148th-best prospect, ninth-best running back and No. 10 player out of Alabama, originally committed to the Tide on June 2 but decommitted on Nov. 17, announcing he was choosing between Ohio State and Georgia.
Rogers had built a relationship with Ohio State and fellow Montgomery, Ala., native Carlos Locklyn starting in the spring — when the Buckeyes offered him in April and hosted him in May — and that mutual interest only intensified when he went on an official visit to Columbus on Nov. 9 to take in the Buckeyes’ 45-0 rout of Purdue, only to decommit from Alabama just eight days later.
Now, Rogers — a high school track standout who totaled 36 carries for 221 yards and two touchdowns along with another 478 receiving yards and four touchdowns as a senior — joins a highly-rated Ohio State 2025 recruiting class that has two other running backs already signed, Cleveland Villa Angela-St. Joseph four-star Bo Jackson (6-0, 205) and Philadelphia St Joseph’s Prep three-star Isaiah West.
