Freshman Offensive Lineman Ian Moore Sheds Black Stripe

Freshman offensive lineman Ian Moore became an “official” member of the Buckeyes today, getting his black stripe removed and becoming the fifth to do so in fall camp.

Moore came into Ohio State as a four-star prospect out of New Palestine, Ind., ranked the No. 5 interior offensive lineman in the 2024 class, and he has impressed early on during his time in Columbus.

“Ian had his black stripe removed today,” offensive coordinator Chip Kelly said. “He’s really come along. He’s another guy that’s benefitted from extra reps (while other offensive lineman were dealing with illness) that sometimes they don’t normally get.”

The offensive line depth chart is still taking shape, and Moore is unlikely to get much time on the field this season, but he has been able to show that he is adjusting to the college game well so far as the first of the three freshmen offensive lineman to lose his black stripe.

Moore joins freshmen safety Jaylen McClain, defensive end Eddrick Houston, running back James Peoples and linebacker Payton Pierce as players to lose their black stripe in the fall. Julian Sayin and Jeremiah Smith shed their black stripes during spring ball.
