Freshman Quarterback Devin Brown Sheds Black Stripe
Ohio State freshman quarterback Devin Brown became the latest Buckeye to shed his black stripe on Thursday.
Brown joined the program for spring camp as an early enrollee and has already seen the field during Ohio State’s first five games this season. The freshman quarterback has appeared in two games this season — against Toledo and Rutgers — and collected one carry for one yard.
Prior to arriving in Columbus, Brown threw for 4,881 yards for 57 touchdowns while producing 430 rushing yards and eight rushing touchdowns during his senior season at Corner Canyon High School in Draper, Utah. He also spent the first three years of his high school career learning under former OSU quarterback Joe Germaine at Queen Creek High School in Arizona.
Brown joined kickoff specialist Jayden Fielding in completing the black stripe tradition on Thursday. He is the 20th player and second quarterback, joining walk-on Mason Maggs, to lose his black stripe since the end of last season.
