Harrison Named Big Ten Co-Offensive Player Of The Week
After reeling in 11 catches, 162 yards and a touchdown in No. 3 Ohio State’s 20-12 win over Penn State, Marvin Harrison Jr. was named Big Ten Co-Offensive Player of the Week.
The touchdown came in the fourth quarter with 3:10 left in the game and put the Buckeyes up 20-6, giving him a career-high 11 receptions, exceeding a mark he set last year against Penn State when he had 10 catches for 185 yards. He now has 42 catches for 766 yards and six touchdowns going into the Wisconsin game Oct. 28.
Kyle McCord targeted him 16 times, and he was open on almost every single one of those, so had McCord not had a few errant throws early in the game he could have boasted even higher totals in the win.
This game was Harrison’s fifth all time with over 160 yards, which sets an Ohio State record. He passes David Boston who had four of those games in his time as a Buckeye. It was also Harrison’s fifth time over 100 yards this season, the win over the Nittany Lions being his third in a row. The record for most 100 yard games in a row at Ohio State was five straight by Cris Carter in 1986.
Harrison also took home Big Ten honors after Ohio State’s 37-17 win over Maryland in which he had eight catches for 163 yards and a touchdown. It’s the fourth time this season a Buckeye was recognized, with Josh Proctor and Lathan Ransom taking home Defensive Player of the Week against Maryland and Notre Dame, respectively.
Harrison shared the recognition with Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy this week, who led the Wolverines to a 49-0 win over Michigan State completing 21-of-27 passes for 287 yards and a career-high four touchdown passes.
