Ohio State head coach Chris Holtmann and assistant Ryan Pedon will not be available when the Buckeyes host Northwestern on Sunday evening. Both coaches will miss the game due to health and safety protocols.
With Holtmann and Pedon not on the sidelines, assistant Jake Diebler will serve as the acting head coach against the Wildcats.
Assistant coach Jake Diebler will serve as the acting head coach for the game against Northwestern. He is in his third season on the Ohio State bench after spending three seasons on the Vanderbilt sideline under Bryce Drew.
Before his time with the Commodores, Diebler spent three years as the Ohio State video coordinator from 2014-16. His brother Jon played in Columbus from 2008-11 and is the all-time three-point record holder for the Buckeyes and Big Ten. Diebler also spent four years at Valparaiso as a student assistant, director of operations and assistant coach from 2010-2013.
Holtmann and Pedon’s availability for upcoming games this week will be determined later. Ohio State tips off with Northwestern at 5:30 p.m. on Big Ten Network.
